This Disclaimer explains what IMEI.blog's tools can establish, what they cannot establish, and when an authoritative source is required. It applies to every public tool, guide, checklist, example, and external link. An IMEI is one piece of device information; a local calculation is not a complete device-history report.
Educational information, not a universal device verdict
IMEI.blog provides educational information and browser calculations that help readers understand identifiers, organise verification, and recognise evidential limits. It is not legal, financial, insurance, law-enforcement, cybersecurity, telecommunications, repair, valuation, or purchasing advice. Decisions involving disputed ownership, suspected crime, account security, or liability should be evaluated with an appropriate professional or authoritative organisation.
No result should be interpreted as saying that a phone is genuine, lawfully owned, safe to purchase, fully paid, unlocked, under warranty, free from account restrictions, or absent from a lost-or-stolen record. Those conclusions depend on records not encoded in an IMEI.
What the local tools actually calculate
The local utilities work only with the text entered in the browser. Depending on the selected tool, they can normalise safe separators, count digits, test numeric format, calculate or compare a Luhn check digit, display the first eight digits as the Type Allocation Code, separate the serial portion, parse an IMEISV software-version field, compare two strings, identify repeated list entries, or create a masked display value.
A passing Luhn result means that the digits are mathematically consistent with the applicable checksum formula. It does not prove that the identifier was assigned to the physical phone being examined, that the phone has not been altered, or that an apparently valid number is unique in a carrier network. Likewise, duplicate detection finds repeated text in the list submitted by the user; it cannot discover network-level cloning or determine why two records match.
TAC and structural decoding limitations
The first eight IMEI digits are commonly described as the TAC. Extracting those digits is a structural operation. A TAC-to-model conclusion requires a current, trusted allocation dataset and careful interpretation. IMEI.blog does not claim that a locally extracted TAC alone confirms a retail model, manufacturing country, sales region, storage capacity, colour, production date, or device authenticity.
Unofficial TAC information may be incomplete, outdated, or mapped differently from commercial naming. Even a correct allocation does not prove that the examined handset is the device to which the identifier belongs. Compare settings with trusted documentation and official records where available.
Blacklist, lost-or-stolen, and ownership status
Blacklist and lost-or-stolen records are maintained by carriers, national equipment identity registers, regulators, law-enforcement-connected systems, or authorised service providers, depending on the country. IMEI.blog's local tools do not query those records. A valid checksum therefore cannot show whether an identifier is currently blocked, has been reported, was previously blocked, or may be blocked later.
An IMEI does not reveal the legal owner. Possession, a matching box, or a successful local check is not conclusive evidence of title. Buyers should request proof of purchase, compare identifiers, use relevant official services, and preserve transaction records. Suspected theft or fraud should be reported to the appropriate carrier, marketplace, payment provider, or authority.
Warranty, authenticity, and repair eligibility
Warranty coverage is controlled by the manufacturer or authorised service network and can depend on serial records, original sale information, region, product category, proof of purchase, service history, policy exclusions, and local consumer law. A warranty date is not calculated from the IMEI checksum. IMEI.blog cannot create or guarantee a manufacturer warranty result.
Authenticity is broader than identifier format. Counterfeit, rebuilt, modified, or improperly labelled equipment can display plausible identifiers. A manufacturer or authorised technician may need to inspect records and physical characteristics. Repair, recall, replacement, and parts decisions require the organisation controlling those records.
Carrier locks, account locks, and financial status
An IMEI does not locally disclose whether a phone is carrier locked, subject to financing, associated with an unpaid account, or eligible for unlocking. Carrier policies and consumer rights vary by market. Confirm these facts directly with the relevant carrier using information and authorisation it accepts.
Platform account protections are separate from IMEI validation. Apple Activation Lock, Android device-protection features, remote-management enrolment, and similar controls depend on authenticated platform or organisation records. A seller should remove personal accounts and complete the platform's official transfer or reset process. IMEI.blog cannot bypass, remove, or guarantee the absence of an account lock.
Network APIs, provider access, and consent
SIM Swap, Device Swap, reachability, roaming, number verification, and location verification are network capabilities, not formulas derived from an IMEI. Turning on a SIM's mobile data and visiting a webpage does not provide a website with access to private operator records. A legitimate integration requires a mobile network operator or approved API provider, protected credentials, supported coverage, correct scopes, an appropriate legal basis, and authorisation or consent where required.
GSMA Open Gateway materials describe a standardised framework for accessing operator capabilities and recognise privacy, authentication, authorisation, and consent requirements. IMEI.blog has no active provider connection for these checks and will not fabricate a result. Any future network feature would need to identify its provider and limitations and should make a request only after valid input and an explicit user action.
No IMEI-based public tracking
Entering an IMEI into a public form does not reveal a phone's live location, subscriber identity, address, phone number, or movement history. Network location verification requires an authorised application, provider, subscriber connection, and stated purpose. Do not stalk, harass, monitor, or locate anyone without lawful authority.
Buying, selling, and commercial decisions
IMEI.blog checklists reduce avoidable mistakes but cannot remove transaction risk. A buyer should inspect the device, compare all available identifiers, confirm account removal, test essential functions, review the seller and payment method, and consult official manufacturer, carrier, marketplace, and blacklist resources appropriate to the country. A seller should protect personal information, describe the device accurately, and avoid posting a complete IMEI publicly.
Prices, warranty rules, carrier processes, and official services change. Content cannot address every country, contract, or circumstance. You remain responsible for deciding whether evidence is sufficient and complying with applicable rules.
Accuracy, availability, and external links
We aim for accuracy, but errors, delayed updates, or interruptions can occur. Examples are educational, not claims about a real device unless stated. External links are contextual; IMEI.blog does not control their content, availability, security, privacy practices, or decisions.
The site is provided on an “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. We do not promise uninterrupted access or universal applicability. Nothing in this Disclaimer excludes rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Limitation of responsibility and corrections
To the extent permitted by law, IMEI.blog is not responsible for loss arising from treating a local calculation as authoritative, relying on an unofficial result, skipping independent checks, publicly sharing an identifier, or using information unlawfully. This includes acting on incomplete evidence when purchasing, selling, repairing, unlocking, or surrendering a device.
